1. TARC’s Winter Wonderland

This 2 mile holiday light display is TARC’s largest fundraiser. It opens the Wednesday before Thanksgiving each year and closes on December 31. They are open every night (including the holidays) from 6 to 10 pm with a suggested donation of $10 per vehicle or $20 per bus. As you’re riding throughout the display be sure to tune into their Christmas radio station to really get into the spirit! Bonus points if you can count up all of the reindeer you see throughout the show! Take a guess before you start and the closest guess in your car wins! How many reindeer are there you ask? No one actually knows but it’s a fun game to play with your family. This display needs to be added to the top of your list and shouldn’t be missed! Check out this interview with WIBW to hear more about this incredible display!

Owned by Louie Cortez, Cortez Holiday light show is a family run light show. Initiated in 2008, it has been pleasing the viewers for 12 years. Being one of the beloved shows of Topeka, it owes more than 350 channels of control. However, to add to the glory of sparkling lights, the show owes a private radio channel that visitors can tune in to while enjoying it from their cars. Every year, the show sets out in November and stays there till January 1st. This year, it set out on the 13th of November and is good to go till the 1st of January.

4. Cannock Chase Road

Down on 29th street just past Urish RD is Cannock Chase RD! Just because they don’t advertise as a formal “show” doesn’t mean this isn’t one of the best place to see Christmas lights in the city. When all of the neighbors come together and put up their personal Christmas lights, they might as well advertise like a show. This neighborhood is one of the best in Topeka and is definitely worthy of a trip to see. Several homes along Cannock Chase have even had finalists in the Topeka Chamber of Commerces annual Christmas Light competition!

5. Potwin Place Neighborhood

The Potwin Place Neighborhood is one of the most popular places to visit Christmas lights in Topeka. The national historic district has blocks of decorated, beautiful old homes, plus theme displays on the small roundabouts at each intersection. Each year the Potwin neighborhood has a new theme that all of the houses follow, last year it was holiday TV classics. Each roundabout in the neighborhood featured an iconic Christmas character such as Rudolph, The Grinch, Frosty the Snowman, and even the leg lamp from A Christmas Story made an appearance. No doubt this is a must visit!
