Top 5 Local Coffee Shops In Topeka

Whenever you think of coffee you can’t help but think of Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. You might want to change your mindset when you think of coffee shops in Topeka. There are some incredible places in Topeka to grab a cup coffee and most of these places even offer something to eat if you’re feeling it. That is why we have put together a list of our 5 favorite local coffee shops in Topeka. This list is in no particular order and is 100% based from our team’s opinion, but we think we have a pretty good one!

Dialogue Coffee House

Dialogue Coffee House opened its doors in April of 2019 but has quickly became one of our favorite coffee shops in Topeka. Dialogue is the perfect spot if you’re needing to get some work done or a great spot to catch up with a friend. They have electronic outlets across the shop making it convenient to charge whatever device you’re working from. And while you’re working, you MUST try one of their cookies. Their famous “Monster Cookies” or our personal favorite, the Snickerdoodle! Those cookies alone could justify Dialogue as being one of the top coffee shops in Topeka.

It’s not just the cookies; Dialogue is unique to coffee shops in Topeka because they are known for employing our friends with mental and intellectual disabilities. Seeing them thrive in a working environment makes your cup of coffee that much better. Check out what KSNT News had to say about Dialogue Here.

Juli’s Coffee and Bistro

Juli’s Coffee and Bistro is located in the heart of downtown Topeka and is the coffee shop to visit when you’re in the area. Juli’s has been around since May of 2011 and is on the National Register of Historic Places! Juli’s specializes in more than just coffee and is one of the hot spots for lunch in downtown Topeka. Don’t get me wrong, their coffee is great and definitely a reason they’re one of the top coffee shops in Topeka, but if you’re there between 11-12:30 (or anytime for that matter) you have to grab one of their sandwiches. You can’t go wrong with the unique sandwiches they offer, but our “go to” has always been the “Turkey Lurkey”. Check out all of their unique sandwiches the next time you’re thinking about lunch!

The Classic Bean

The Classic Bean has a rich history in Topeka and is one of the most well know places when it comes to coffee shops in Topeka. Starting in downtown Topeka in 1993, they quickly needed a second location and started another on the west side of Topeka. The Classic Bean is known for their fresh bakery breads – definitely try a muffin. When it comes down to it, our favorite thing about The Classic Bean is the relaxing environment. They have a large shop that allows for them to bring in local musicians and bands to play. It is one of the only coffee shops in Topeka big enough to support it! Although they have 3 locations, including a drive thru, our favorite is their Fairlawn Plaza location. Definitely a shop to check out!

World Cup

World Cup Coffee is located across the street from Washburn University, but their customers come from all over the city. It is very roomy with tables, chairs, and a reading nook. They even have a selection of books you can read while eating one of their dessert crepes, cakes, pies, or other baked goods. It is definitely a great place to check out when you want a cup of coffee and a quiet place to work. What makes World Cup one of our favorite coffee shops in Topeka is the cozy feeling you get in the shop with the arrangement of couches and music. Our only concern is getting too comfortable!

PT’s Wheatfield Village

We already know what you’re thinking… “PT’s has more than one location, they aren’t a local coffee shop” and you’re right, they do have more than one location. PT’s has two other shops in Lawrence and Kansas City, but we still wanted to add them to our list because because Topeka is their hometown and still considered a local shop by most. Located on the corner of 29th and Fairlawn, PT’s has a lot of things going for them that make them stand out from other coffee shops in Topeka. We could go on and on about their coffee but we are just going to save you the time and hope you trust us when we say, It’s good! Besides their coffee, the primary thing that has led us to being one of their most loyal customers is their grilled cheese sandwiches! Wow… their lunch menu is phenomenal and keeps getting better. Highly recommend checking this place out when you’re in the area and needing a bite to eat! Plus they have a great rewards program!
