You need to put serious thought into which real estate agent you decide to hire when you’re thinking about buying or selling a home. This person could save OR end up costing you thousands of dollars throughout the process. Buying or selling a home will probably be the biggest transaction of your life and you need someone you know, like, and trust who can navigate you through the potential storms. When it comes down to it, there are 3 things you need to look for when you are choosing a real estate agent.
When you are choosing a real estate agent the first thing you need to do is look at their reviews. The person you decide to hire needs to have a proven track record with reviews. You can look for reviews in two ways. One is through personal referrals. Ask your friends and family who they might recommend if they were choosing a real estate agent. This is huge and a great place to start when choosing a real estate agent. The second way is to search for an agent on Google or Facebook then look at their online reviews. What do other people say about them? Are they someone you want to trust with your money? Don’t be scared away by negative reviews, rather read them and gain insight as to why their past clients were upset. I would also encourage you to check out their social media profiles or website. Look around and get to know them before you ever pick up the phone. You can tell a lot about a person by what they put on the internet. This will go a long way when you’re in the process of choosing a real estate agent!
2. Online Presence
This picks up where we left off with on reviews. When you are choosing a real estate agent the next thing you need to do is search for them online. Can you even find them? Do they have any sort of online presence? Do they have their own website or social media pages? The first two places to check are Google and Facebook. If you can’t find them online they could still be a great agent, but if they don’t have an online presence your home will not be getting any additional exposure other than what your standard agent already does. If that’s not a big deal to you then you can skip over this item on your checklist!

This last thing you need to look for when you’re choosing a real estate agent is to look for someone you genuinely like and trust. You are going to be spending a lot of time with your real estate agent. Whether you’re looking for homes, talking through details, or closing the deal you need someone who you respect enough to listen to and someone who you will enjoy working with. This goes back to looking at their online presence. Check out their Facebook or Instagram Page and get to know them before you ever pick up the phone.
