About The Goodyear Plant In Topeka
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company opened its Topeka facility in 1945, making it one of the longest-standing manufacturers in the city. Today, it remains a major employer in the area with more than 1,600 employees, producing truck and military tires and playing a key role in the company’s global operations.
Located near NW 35th and NW US Highway 24, Goodyear’s Topeka plant is one of only two in the country that manufacture large off-the-road (OTR) tires.
This facility offers excellent wages, strong union representation, and opportunities for long-term career growth—and with so many new hires and transfers coming into the area, Topeka has become a landing place for Goodyear families from all over the country.

If you’re moving to Topeka to join the team at Goodyear, welcome! Whether you’re coming on board in engineering, production, maintenance, logistics, or leadership, you’re joining one of the most well-established and respected employers in the region.
I’ve worked with several people relocating to Topeka for work, and one of the most common questions I get is: “Where should I live that’s close to Goodyear, but still feels like a great place to call home?”

Best Neighborhoods Within 25 Minutes of Goodyear Topeka
Whether you’re looking for walkability, a quiet subdivision, or strong school districts, here are some solid options.
1. Seaman School District / North Topeka (5–15 min)
Goodyear is located in North Topeka, which makes the Seaman School District one of the most convenient areas to live. You’ll find quiet, established neighborhoods like Cherry Creek, Indian Ridge, and River Hill—with solid home values and easy commutes.
2. Downtown Topeka / Historic Districts (15–20 min)
If you want character, charm, and walkability, check out Potwin, Kenwood, or Tennessee Town. You’ll be close to the Capitol, Evergy Plaza, and the NOTO Arts District. Great for young professionals or couples looking for an urban vibe without the big city chaos.
3. North Tecumseh / Oakland Area (10–15 min)
This area offers a mix of rural and suburban feel with easy highway access. Homes here tend to be more affordable, and it’s a quick hop over to Goodyear’s front gate.
4. Silver Lake or Rossville (20–25 min)
If you’re open to more of a small-town feel, Silver Lake and Rossville are quiet communities with good schools and easy access to NW 24. Great if you want a bit more space and don’t mind the drive.
5. Westboro / Collins Park (20–25 min)
These beautiful older neighborhoods in central Topeka are full of mature trees, charm, and character. A little further out, but still an easy commute thanks to direct routes.
What Relocating Goodyear Employees Should Know
Topeka is more connected than it looks. Many of the neighborhoods above are within a 20-minute drive, and traffic is a non-issue compared to larger metros.
The cost of living is highly competitive. You’ll likely find that your money goes further here whether you’re buying your first home or upgrading to something with more space.
Goodyear is deeply rooted in this community. The company’s long history here means many locals have ties to the plant, and the community around it is strong and welcoming.
You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Whether you’re relocating solo or moving a family, I’d love to help walk you through the process, neighborhood tours, school info, market updates, and all the little questions in between.
